Neo Immanuel Marx (II), to be exact. No, there was never a Neo Immanuel Marx (I) - the current is the one and only. There is a long, long story behind the name. Most of it should be rather obvious, if it's not you REALLY don't want to ask. You probably wouldn't be interested anyway.

Neo is a 2001 Chevy Cavalier {shown here with his very first snow of Winter '08}. I love him dearly. Many people dream of driving an Audi, a Saab or a Mercedes. Dennis wants a military style Hummer {in tweety bird yellow}. I've wanted nothing but a Chevrolet for as long as I can remember. Back during the Clinton Administration - before HOLY SHIT GAS PRICES meant something to me...and long before I got my driver's license, I wanted a Chevy Blazer...in forest green. My long term love affair with Chevy is one of the things on a very short list that make me as ~~Canadian~~ American as Apple Pie.

My first car was a Ford Escort. I've never driven a vehical not manufactured by the Big 3...hence my obnoxious Save The Big 3 campaign. I don't approve of Ford, however, in general. My parents raised me in a household that didn't buy Ford because of horrific past experiances...then they turned around and bought me one. I know, I know, I shouldn't complain - they bought me a car...and yet. It was red...and I pretty much hated it from day one. It wasn't given a name that bears repeating. ...and then there was Neo.

That damn Ford {Fixed or Repaired Daily, they say...though if I'm fair, it *was* a decent car} went into the shop one day and came out with a diagnois of needing $3,000 worth of work. My parents were still paying at that point...and they asked me how I'd feel about trading the Ford in for something else. The girl that to this very day has serious serious paranoias about driving had never ever been more excited about the idea of car shopping in her life. Dad and I set out together, on the internet and at the dealerships. I wanted a Cavalier. I wanted one BADLY. I made absolute sure he knew this. It got to the point where he even stopped pointing out other types of cars...regardless of price or how nice they seemed. Previously he had repeatedly pointed out how much the Dodge Neon was like the Chevy Cavalier. I like Dodge. The Neon isn't terrible...but it wasn't what I wanted. I found the absolute worst crash statistics I could find and printed them out for him. He never mentioned it again. *Is evil*

We actually ended up finding a new home for the Ford before I got Neo. We were in negotiations with two different dealerships and I ended up missing a class because of their fuckery. In the end, I didn't care what I'd missed...I'd gotten my Cavalier...and I loved it...I still do...I love it dearly...even after today.

Mom took Neo to the Firestone garage on Bardstown road this morning because the muffler was about to fall off. This may or may not have been due to my idiotically hitting that pole the other day. I maintain that it was having an issue even before that {You could hear it hitting the ground when I pulled out of the parking lot at the apartment...and that's never good} but I'm sure it didn't help matters any. I'd also mentioned to Mom that I'd heard some sort of sound in my steering a few weeks ago...so while she was there she had them check that out, too. $1,000 and 2 trips to pick him up from Firestone later {because it was more fucked up than when it went in there the first time I got it back} Neo is parked snuggly in spot 23 of the Imperial House parking lot...right where he belongs. I pay $30 a month just so he can have a roof over his head. It's a fucking car port...a shitty car port...but you do what you can for the things you love. ...and I do love my Neo.

My point, you may ask? This is the first time I've had to pay for my own car repairs...or for anything related to my car aside from gas, really. My parents just can't afford it...hell, who am I kidding...neither can I! I'm sure you've noticed the recession...who exactly DOES have an extra $1,000 laying around? And yet... My biggest concern isn't that I just lost a huge chunk of my safety net...it's that Neo is getting older...and one day will need repairs that I won't be able to pay for regardless of how hard I try...or worse yet will be beyond repair. They don't make the Cavalier anymore...and much like Hillary Clinton, while there are newer models on the market, I've yet to find anything I like even almost as much.

What is the world coming to?

So I was surfing the net this afternoon and found this: Virginia Tech. I read this freaking article and I was shocked. Who would freaking behead someone for no good reason? I just don't get it. Then I find out tonight that there was a shooting at the University of Louisville where megg goes to school. How is it that people can be so desperate or crazy enough to take it out on other people in such violent ways?

After I read that I then found this article: Adolph Hitler. I honestly thought that this article was a complete joke at first. Then I read it and was stunned at this woman's audacity. She named her son Adolph Hitler. How twisted is that. She also put crazy german 3rd riech-ish names in her daughters name like Aryan Nation? Then come to find out these children have been taken away from their mom on the grounds of accused abuse. Well I think naming her kids with the crazy names like this is abuse enough.

Then I read this article: Segregation. Now did you know that schools were still segregated? I definately didn't. I thought that for the most part we were desegragated. I mean we aren't in the 60s anymore. But the thing is that as much as we do say that we are desegragated we aren't. As the article says we segregate by demographics and residence. Now the catch is that there really isn't anything that we can do for the residence portion because if the families that live in the poorer neighborhoods probably can't afford to send their kids to the other school districts in the area. I know that in Canton Ohio that if you live in one district and want your child to go to a school in another district you have to pay tuition to do that. Another thing is that desegragation isn't properly policed or enforced. So whether we want it or not it is just happening.

Man today was just full of interesting stories. I don't know what is going on in the world.

New Era? Or Cowardly Pacifism?

Hey guys. It is Christine. I know that it has been a while since I last blogged. Well here is a good one I think. So let me set it up. I was at Hayes High School observing, and I got on the internet just to check the temp and see what was happening in the world. Well I found this Gitmo. Now I read it and I honestly didn't know what to think. I mean why should we quit prosecuting the terrorists? I mean seriously if we just quit all together and Obama is pushing for the shut down of Gitmo, what will that show the world? Honestly, I think it will show the world that even though we had the perps in custody, we didn't take care of them because we not only sut down the jail, but also the trials were stopped. Sigh, we would totally look Weak!!!

Oh and then I found this story: Ohio's importance to Obama. Really, Ohio important to Obama? Other than votes...I think not. Don't get me wrong I love Ohio, hell I have been a loyal resident all of my life. But I don't think that the new president gives two shits about ohio. Oh and on the topic of the big windmills, where in god's green earth are these things? I FREAKING LIVE IN NE OHIO AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE DAMN THINGS. You think that those would be totally hard to miss. I don't think that there is anything really important here in Ohio for the president other than the electoral votes. So he is kissing ass to make sure that he gets those damned votes when he comes up for election in four years. Honestly I don't know what the next four years will bring but I know that I will be watching for a fuck up from Mr. Obama and then rally my Conservative brothers and sisters and harass the hell out of him just like the Liberals did to Bush. Sorry but an eye for an eye.

As for the former - Oh, Kerry...what the hell were you thinking?! An *INTERN*?! SERIOUSLY?! It's true I still have beef with you re: your 2004 fuckery...but this just takes the cake. I'm officially removing your speaking privileges. Rachel had the best and only appropriate reaction to this incident.

As for the latter - Let's talk stimulous indeed. The runner-up in this edition of Worst Person's is the funniest thing I've seen on Countdown EVER. I loved the other guy telling him that he's fired. Fox is a lot less forgiving than MSNBC, apparently. I mean, really - Joe Scarborough only got put on a 7 second delay after his profanities. And this Fox guy was completely oblivious - he had no idea what he had done wrong. ...the woman's reaction was priceless as well. I maintain that live T.V. is really never a good idea. Too much can go wrong - it's not like we're lacking in examples of that.

Well kids, I'm off to Dr. Hanson's class. So far it's the only one I like this semester. Everything else is just an interuption of my time better spent watching MSNBC, catching up on LOST and writing fanfiction. :oP

Student Teaching...Or student sitting on their ass

So today I went to student teaching and I was bored to tears because they were giving exams today so I didn't get to do anything other than be introduced and then sit there and watch them take a test. Well hopefully it will be better next week.

Well I didn't sit on my ass the whole damn day...I started looking over the lessons for next week. Which looks like it will be good. I mean Spanish 2 is doing shopping, and Spanish 3 is doing movies and then things that go along with movies. So I think that I can work with that. But we will see. I think that for my Spanish 2 class I will be doing some fun stuff. That and I will they will be completely enjoy...I mean come on...kids like shopping...don't they?

I just can't wait for this week to be over. Well I will update soon!

Day One and I already Effed it up...sigh

Hey there so today is January 12th and I am supposed to be student teaching today. Well I didn't know where or what time to be there. Now I called my supervising professor who I shall call Dr. Butthead. Now Dr. Butthead said that I made a mistake, but that it wasn't hard to fix, just that it was not a good first impression. He told me that I had to call my cooperating teachers and tell them about myself and that I would be there tomorrow.

Dr. Butthead made me feel like complete crap. But I thought about this and I know that I wasn't completely in the wrong because if this was said at the meeting that he had on December 11th I wasn't there because I was flying back to the USA from Spain. It isn't like I was here at school. Plus there was no email saying that I had two cooperating teachers OR that I was supposed to get in touch with them. I thought maybe they would contact me. But nooooo.

Well I have two seminar classes with Dr. Butthead from 4-6:20pm tonight so yay...not. I just have to try to keep positive. We will see how this goes. Well hugs and Kisses.

Okay so I have a really quick gripe about something that to most it wouldn't bother anyone, but to me it does. Everytime there is a press confrence with Barack "I'm insane" Obama on the front of his podium there is the sign that says the "Office of the President Elect" Exhibit A

Now I don't know if anyone is aware...but honestly there isn't an office of the president elect. Is this retard changing everything that has been taught because I would like my own office. It would be the Office of the Female Christian Virgin Republican. How important this idiot must feel. To make his own freaking office. Now Megg would call this a bad source with her bias towards Fox News but Exhibit B.

In other news there was the sudden death of John Travolta's son Jett. Mr. Travolta is known for his roles in numerous movies: Grease, Swordfish, and Pulp Fiction to name a few. It is really sad that this kid died and very strange that no one else kept a better eye on him if he had a predelection for seizures. My condolences go out to the Travolta family. May Jett rest in peace.

Tim Kaine & Other New Shit All Up In My New Year

Tim Kaine has been appointed the new chair of the Democratic National Committee {DNC}.

Needless to say, I'm not at all pleased with this choice.

In November, when Governor Kaine of the state of Virgina was asked if he would serve as both Governor and DNC chair, Kaine responded, "That's not something I'm going to do. I don't view that, frankly, as consistent with being governor, so I'm going to be governor." --- SOURCE

...Nice. Way to be a hypocrite just by TAKING the job, asshat.

I realize that I'm too liberal for the Democratic Party most of the time, anyway. It would have probably taken the appointment of a full on Socialist to make me actively happy...but I recognize that as not jiving with reality. That said...I'm not only disappointed with this selection, I'm offended. They couldn't do better than this guy? REALLY? How fucking sad is that?

My most offisive finding on this moron has to be the following:

"I do not support any change in the institution of marriage. I do not support the creation of civil unions, but I do believe that gays and lesbians should be able to contract with one another, and we should respect those contracts in Virgina law, just as we respect any contracts." --- SOURCE

Most liberals are well aware that gays and their allies make up a large portion of the party's base...large enough that they watch what they say when it comes to the issue of gay marriage. Even if they don't want TEH GAYS to OMG get "married" they support civil unions. Not this guy. This should have been political suicide...instead? He's our new leader. Fuck that. I've fucking had it with the Democratic Party.

Governor Kaine also claims a religious opposition to abortion, promotes abstinance {good luck with that} and is opposed to the death penalty but has overseen 8 executions as Governor of Virginia {as of July 2008}. HOLY FAILURE AS A DEMOCRAT, BATMAN. I know! Let's make him our leader!!

At this rate I could be the chair of the RNC. Speaking of, they had their little ridiculous debate thing today. I heard just about all there was to hear via my awesome Twitter friends - honestly, I'd forgotten that it was on today, amongst all the Kaine fuckery. I caught the last 10 minutes or so of it on C-SPAN2. MSNBC wasn't covering it...they were chatting about Gaza. I figure that if MSNBC wasn't covering it...then it's not real vital to my life. I learned NOTHING from what I did see. Perhaps Keith and/or Rachel will tell me more about it later tonight. If not, then I it's *really* not vital for my life.

I was amused, however, via Ana Marie Cox on Twitter...that apparently one of the RNC candidates said something about needing to use "the Facebook" and "the Twitter" to attract young people. ...lmao. Nice.

...oh...and just to be fair...I do have a gripe about MSNBC. Apparently they're planning FULL DAY COVERAGE on Inauguration Day. No, thanks. That's excessive. That would be excessive if fucking HILLARY were becoming President. I'm considering a media blackout on the 20th...I can't take much more of this. Quit talking about change and actually MAKE SOME. How about starting with, oh, I don't know...realizing that the country is in a goddamn finacial crisis worse than ever before in our lifetimes and not spending billions of dollars on inauguration fuckery? Hey guys! It's me your resident conservative republican...yay right? Hehe. So as the new semesters are beginning (mine doesn't begin until Jan 12th). Where does that leave me? Well after this semester I am out in the big bad world...ugh...and trying to find a job/grad program. I totally don't feel ready...lol But I am probably more ready than I could be possible.

I have been in the University for 6 years. I have enjoied it but It is time for me to move on. The thing is that I don't know if I am ready. I have all of the tricks of the trade and I also have good ideas to start my life.

The thing is getting started. I have to take several tests...ugh. I have to take the Praxis II, Spanish Competency, and The GRE. I hate testing. So I have tons to look foreward to. The only thing is that If I go to school...I need to find a job, a place to stay, and some way to be able to live on my own.

So am I stressing....YES!!!!! Will this deter me from my ultimate goal??? NO? lol Well thanks for listening to my complaining...night kids.

I personally hope that the russian outlook for the world doesn't happen because 3 months in Spain was enough for me...for now anyways. By the beautiful map that she provided in her post it shows that the northeast will for the most part become a european province...NOOOOOOOO. Plus most of the states on the coast were the ones that fought against british rule in the independence war. Do we really want to go back to that??? I don't think so.

Plus I wouldn't fit in the numerous petticoats that the women wore under their dresses...yuck! My name isn't Felicity (from the American Girl Franchise). I agree that there needs to be change but honestly at this point change is inevitable. Just look at the voting trends. When one party gets into power and after awhile the ppl don't like that president...they vote completely opposite. A good example was this past election: On the one hand No one liked the Republican Party at all. Which gave more power to the Democratic party and they won the election. Now I am not saying that it is a bad thing, because even I, the Conservative Republican that I am, thought that there needed to be a change.

Another note on the whole Russian prediction of the future...With the French guy as head of the EU what will the Northeasterners be...French??? Will we have to speak french??? Cause if we do I am moving to Mexico. Sorry but that is what is going to happen.

Personally I think the whole world is going to hell in a handbasket.

I didn't "switch sides"...I've always played for the other team...just ask Dennis. I feel the need to reiterate this because I haven't changed. If you weren't "creeped out" by me before you have no reason to be now. As someone I have a great amount of respect for once said: "You can't catch THE GAY. It's not like THE MEASLES." :oP ...and regarding the other teams I play for...I've always been the most liberal person I know. Even my parents are all "Where the hell do you get you ideas, girl?!" sometimes. lmao. Now I have an answer. MSNBC. ...but I digress. Oh those crazy Russians. I love them to pieces. Just FYI, the day Kentucky joins the European Union is the same day that Rachel Maddow calls me up and asks me to run away to Canada with her and get married. IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, KIDS.

...what else were we talking about...oh yes, the war. I was for it before I was against it. Like Palin and her bridge to nowhere. No, really. I was with Hillary. She voted for the war and then once we'd had time to figure out what the hell was really going on she realized that she'd fucked herself politically...which was incredibly unfortunate...not to mention the war itself {which she didn't declare all on her own, haters} has been INCREDIBLY unfortunate. So many young American {and ally} lives lost needlessly. So many young Iraqi children orphaned...and blaming the U.S. in general for their loss. They will retaliate. Dr. Mazzei's videos don't lie. It won't be pretty. As hard as I try I don't think I'll ever be able to see what makes it all worthwhile.

I do agree with Christine on one point though...the soldiers are going to NEED mental health services. They are currently RIDICULOUSLY underserved by the VA. That is one thing that my plan for socialized medicine in the U.S. would be sure to take into consideration. No one listens to me, though. It's their loss, I suppose. :op

1st Day of the New Year

So now that you heard from both of us. Can you tell that we are Polar Opposites??? Cause we are. But even though we have many different thoughts we are the best of friends.

Now as a Christian, Right winged conservative, Straight girl most would think that I would be creeped out by Megg. I knew her before her switching sides. So there.

Now in the news today, via Fox News cause I don't like watching MSNBC, There was a handover of Baghdad and the Green Zone. Now my thoughts on the War in Iraq. At the beginning it seemed like a good thing because Sadam was a terrible person who forced his people into hiding and being afraid of the man and his regime. He is a flippin present day Fransisco Franco, only Sadam didn't ease up on his ppl. I'm sorry but even though the president made a mistake by claiming that Iraq/Sadam had WMDs, tons of good came out of this. Women have rights which is a big step in the right direction. As news came it that there was deception via the Bush administration and the CIA and FBI the president was raked over the coals. My thoughts is that no matter what comes out...there should be a unity not dissention. We seriously need to remember that we are the UNITED States of America. Not the AUTONOMUS States of America. As the news reports came in with all of the numbers of men and women soliders who died over there I became sad and upset. I wished, because I couldn't do anything, that there was something that I could do. With this news of the Iraqui handover of land, it shows that we are almost done over there and that those soliders will be coming home soon.

That also brings another problem though. Those soliders will need counceling so that they can deal with the after the war blues...because we don't want them to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. That would just suck and who knows what would happen. I don 't know how to achieve this but that is what I think needs to be done.

Some of you may say that I am just an Idealist and that may be but I try not to judge people on what they think. I try to make educated judgements. I may not know much of this world but I know that if we, Americans, don't unify and figure something out we are going travel this downward spiral down to rock bottom and become worse than a third world country.

Hi there. Meggs here.

I'm a 23 year old graduate student at the University of Louisville. I have a B.A. in Sociology with minors in Philosophy and Women's Studies from Kent State University. I'm currently working on my M.A. in Bioethics and Medical Humanities.

I'm a lesbian Socialist. No, really. Society being what it is, however, I generally adopt the title "Bleeding Heart Liberal." I make apologies for neither my sexuality nor the fact that I cling to the farthest left corner of the political spectrum by my fingernails. It is what it is. I maintain that there are wackjobs on both sides, the thing that distinguishes intelligent radicals from these other individuals is an understanding of the non-existent applicability of their ideals. I'd love to wake up tomorrow in a Marxist utopia...but I'm well aware that that's not going to happen...and likewise I'm not going to attempt to make it a reality - that would be a waste of my time. {For examples of nutjobs on the other side that have not come to the same conclusion google search "God Hates Fags", "Focus on the Family", "Pastor Rick Warren"...etc.}

I mainline MSNBC and livejournal like a junkie getting their favorite fix. I fangirl way too hard over Hillary Clinton and Rachel Maddow. If this is a problem for you, you'll just have to get over it because it's not going to change.

My future plans include obtaining a passport, surviving graduate school and acquiring a job that enables me to better a heathcare system in some way - if not in the U.S. then in Great Britain or France.

Okay so my name is Christine. This blog is going to be written in by my best friend Megg and myself. We are polar opposites but we are just that best friends and sisters.

My stats: I am a 23 year old college student. I major in Spanish and minor in Education. I want to be a teacher. Now I am what ppl would call a conservative republican. Although I do have some more moderate ideals. But I am also a Christian (Methodist). I am single and looking (okay so it sounds like a freaking dating service).

Hopes for the future: To be thinner, Find a husband, Have a white wedding, Write a bestseller, Have a family, Work as a Professor at a university.
